Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is based on the premise that good health care depends, in part, upon a normal functioning nervous system. The body has the ability to function and keep you well, provided it is not compromised. Doctors of Chiropractic do not utilize drugs or surgery in their practices. Chiropractic strategies care helps the individuals cope by relieving structural stress and providing information on alternative options. We adjust the spine which helps to normalize the nervous system. It is our goal to give your body the advantage that it needs to function and perform at a higher potential.

Kinesiotaping

Kinesiotape is used to help assist the body's return to normal function through the application of the tape onto the skin. It is a specialized tape that has a longitudinal stretch of 55-60% of its resting length, unlike athletic tape. It can be used to treat all athletic injuries, traumatic injuries, or any muscle pain or inflammation. You may have seen this tape during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Active Release Technique (ART)

Active Release Technique (ART) is a hands-on-touch and case-management system that allows a practitioner to diagnose and treat soft-tissue injuries. Soft tissue refers primarily to muscle, tendon, fascia, and nerves. Specific injuries that apply are repetitive strains, adhesions, tissue hypoxia, and joint dysfunction. This tool is found to be extremely useful in the treatment of athletes.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue (Graston)

Graston technique is used when a patient has "knots" or adhesions

in their soft tissues (muscles/ligaments). This technique involves
the use of a small tool which allows the physician to be more precise
in their treatment location. This coupled with ART provides the best
results when trying to treat soft tissue injuries.

Physical Therapy Modalities

We utilize electrical stimulation therapy, ultrasound therapy, and percussion therapy in our practice when warranted. The use of electrical stimulation on muscle groups is used to contract and stimulate muscles as well as for pain control. ES uses pads to stimulate the given area. Ultrasound (US) is uses a transducer head to deliver sound waves to cells in the given area. The purpose and use of US is to decrease the inflammatory process while repairing the cells in the surrounding area, especially for sprains/strains of muscles. Percussion is a gentle vibratory therapy that is used to relax surrounding musculature. Percussion can also be used for sinusitis and other inflammatory processes.

Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a special certification that all three doctors are certified in. AK is a tool that we use to help diagnose how a person's body is functioning through manual muscle testing. In general we find a muscle that tests weak and then attempts to determine why that muscle is not functioning properly. We then evaluate and apply the therapy that will best eliminate the muscle weakness and help the patient. The triad is represented by and equilateral triangle with structural as its base, and the upright sides representing chemical and mental health. When a person experiences poor health, it is due to an imbalance in one or more of these three factors. AK enables the practitioner to evaluate the triad's balance and direct therapy toward the imbalanced side or sides.
